EXMORTIS - PSX Ver. (A Fan Re-creation Project)

"You wake up in the woods with no memory of how you got there. Nightmares of blood and screams still echo through your mind. It's late and it's cold - unless you can find shelter fast, you won't last the night. You spot a house in a clearing up ahead and left with no choice - you decide to shelter there for the night. Soon after you begin to realise that death is a welcome choice compared to what lies waiting for you inside..."

This was a story from 20 Years ago today, when the world of horror was taken by a demonic storm, by a flash game with the name EXMORTIS. This game is forever cemented in my head as one of the best examples of atmospheric horror and one of my biggest inspirations and reference points when it comes to my Game Dev journey.

For its 20th Year Anniversary; I made this fan tribute project of how the game would have looked like if it was re-created for the PSX console! This is also my biggest delve into the horror genre; trying to re-create original source, whilst making it feel like a Survival Horror (Silent Hill Inspired) title of the PS1 Era!

I want to thank Ben Leffler for creating this game which has a huge impact in my life with many great memories playing this when I was a kid!

I highly urge everyone to check out the original EXMORTIS Flash game, along with its sequels (With Exmortis 2 being my absolute fave of the trilogy)!

This game was made in UNREAL ENGINE 5 with Special thanks to Dysfunctional_Dev for assistance with the girl Character model, general assets and animations!
